Carol’s Mulled Wine

1.2 litres claret

  • Pour claret into saucepan

2 oranges

  • Finely slice one unpeeled orange.
  • Thinly pare the rind of the other.
  • Add sliced orange and orange rind to claret

12 sugar cubes

12 cloves

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Add to claret.
  • Heat slowly to a comfortable drinking temperature.

600ml boiling water

  • Add boiling water when just off the boil.
  • Stir well.

1 sherry glass blue curacao

1 sherry glass brandy

Add curacao and brandy.

  • Pour into glasses

2 nutmegs grated

  • sprinkle wine with nutmeg
