Britannia 600 AD: Mapless Campaign

I wanted to try out the Mapless Campaign system and convinced Mike Lowery and Chris Harrod to give it a go.

Player Player Nation Army List Initial Territories
Chris Harrod Alba  Picts Farmland, Plains, Mountain Pass
Mike Lowery Northumbria (North Angles) Saxon Pasture, Farmland, Wastes
Steven Thomas Strathclyde Welsh Mountain, 2 x Wastes

Nominally there is one battle per year.

mapless1.jpg (34172 bytes)600 AD: Northumbrian (Mike) beat Pict (Chris)

Mike's Northumbrians decisively beat the Picts.  Both players decided to use all three of their territory cards.  Chris deployed a large wood, a gentle hill and a town (which didn't come into play).  Chris pushed his riders onto the hill out ahead of the main host, however a combination of the Northumbrian Hero and archers dealt with them rapidly.  As the main battle lines clashed Mike's hero rolled up the Pictish left flank where the Pictish nobles had been.  It was a comprehensive victory and Mike lost no troops during the battle.

As you will notice from the map to the right, some of us demand a map ... Chris whipped this one up to show the events to date.

New Territory Cards: Forest x 2, Town

Player Player Nation Army List Territories
Chris Harrod Alba  Picts Forest x 2, Town
Mike Lowery Northumbria (North Angles) Saxon Farmlands x 2, Plains, Wastes, Mountain Pass
