Field of Glory
Later Macedonian
Check out 240 – 20 BC Punic Wars and Roman conquest of Hispania for the history.
Before I moved to 15mm metal figures I had a Later Macedonian in 1/76th scale plastic figures. This was my second wargames army so I'm still rather fond of it even if the original figures are long gone.
Shield Colours
According to Head (1982)
- Argyraspides = Silver shields
- Chalkaspides = Bronze shields
- Leukaspides = White shields
Wishlist
By reusing large numbers of my Later Seleucid army I can field some of a Later Macedonian army.
But I don't have all the troops to complete even the starter army. To complete the starter army I need:
- 8 stands of Macedonian and Thessalian Cavalry (3 figures / stand).
- 4 stands of Illyrian Cavalry (2 figures / stand)
- 6 stands of Illyrian Foot (3 figures / stand)
- 6 stands of Javelinmen (2 figures / stand) - Illyrian, Thracian or Greek.
Nice to have
- 8 stands of Thracian Foot (3 figures / stand)
- +2 stands of Illyrian Foot (3 figures / stand)
- +2 stands of Illyrian Cavalry (2 figures / stand)
- +12 stands of Chalkapides and Leukaspides (4 figures / stand). I already have 20 stands so this would give me 32 in total = four battle groups.
- +8 stands of Agema (4 figures / stand). I already have 8 stands so this would give me 16 stands in total = two battle groups.
