In addition there was a special force of 2000 infantry for protecting the convoy routes, and another 7201 troops in garrison.  

Aug 1839

Espartero’s Army of the North had 34 battalions in four divisions, six batteries and 3,000 cavalry - Victorious, confident, high-class troops.
