Megablitz! is a operational level set of rules by Tim Gow for WW2. A game turn represents two hours. Stands generally represent battalions (or Soviet regiments).
All my WW2 (and similar) for the last few years has been Crossfire in which you have a company to battalion a side. I like Crossfire but I was also interested in something pitched at a higher level. Part of my motivation was because many WW2 gamers think WW2 has to be 1:1 figure scale (the FOW crowd). This is an attitude that puzzles me given many of the same people will happily play Ancients or Napoleonics with a 1:30 or 1:50 figure scale.
Over the last few years I’ve read some articles by Martin Rapier about operational level games. One of his articles in the SOTCW journal was about the Ebro campaign in the Spanish Civil War. And it used Megablitz. I fumbled around trying to convert the scenario to another rule set and then decided I was wasting my time … so I bought the Megablitz rules. Glad I did.
